Document capture systems need to understand your documents

The holy grail of the industry is for the software to instantly - and correctly - identify every document submitted to it and process them without any interaction from users.

While we're continually getting closer to this model, there's still a lot of manual work required before a capture system can offer anything productive to the buyer: forms need to be designed or taught to the software, business rules have to be understood and incorporated into the document flow, the destination of the finished, identified documents needs to be clarified and setup.

Only when these essential steps have been fully implemented will the business see the financial or commercial value it envisioned when it started down the capture route.
